there's light at the end of the tunnel...
Mr and Mrs Smat Senior return home on Tuesday, leaving me with a new bathroom (mostly finished), a new power shower (which if you press the "Eco" button switches ON the pump??), some new thoughts on the future educational needs of the Baby Smats (need Mr Smat to get the job he's on a second interview next Thursday for, in order to pay school fees), a mountain of paperwork (sitting on the computer desk obscuring the screen and mousemat), and a decimated apple tree in the back garden, complete with associated mountain of apple tree branches. Actually the apple tree was my fault - admittedly there might have been wine with lunch, but hey, it was a Sunday afternoon, I'd done the dutiful Interested Mother At Rugby thing, I needed a glass (or two) of wine, I have all my best ideas then....... just not climbing up a ladder armed with extendable tree loppers and a Big Saw......
(promise I'll cut down on the .........s next time)

Oo Smat, please tell me you're not thinking of sending any Baby Smats to that place.

i have a wonderful image of a slightly squiffy smat waging war on an apple tree - why do i never have sunday afternoons like that?

Patroclus - no, don't worry, the potential payrise, while edging towards "ginormous" won't be enought to fork out the senseless amounts needed to send them to the alma mater. Incidentally the uniform list now includes wellies with a colour option of school tartan - how cool is that? Or not, obviously.

Unless they follow their mother's example and are granted a Leadership Scholarship, of course. In which case you could afford to kit them out with as many tartan wellies as the poor dears can handle.
Did you know that you forsook going to school with the almost transcendentally cool Boards of Canada to go to school with a) me and b) some mindless toffs? Shocking.

I posted a reply to this yesterday and it's disappeared!
Anyway, Boards of Canada went to my old old school? Really? No-one famous ever went there. Lots of strange people, but no-one famous (apart from Isla St Clair and the gobby one who got voted off Big Brother within 5 minutes of being there several series ago).

No, they did, really. *And* that bird that was editor of i-D magazine. And you, of course. Your old school was a veritable hotbed of Nathan Barley-esque cool. Which is, er, well bum.

Wait a second...how do you *know* what's on the uniform list these days? Hmmm?

ah well *coughs nervously* I was just looking you know???
