Ooh, choices and decisions.

My brain hurts. The decisions I've got to make over the next few weeks are as follows:
1. Do we take Middle Baby Smat out of school for the next three years, or not.
2. Which car do I buy - the one with leather seats and sat-nav, or the other one which has a smiling face at the front?
3. How do I decide which cushions go with the new sofa and armchairs?
4. Can I be bothered to get back on the diet and lose the final stone?
Aargh!

It's not like it is on the telly...

Half way through the jury service now, and although the process is pretty interesting, the reality is that there's hours upon hours of hanging around, even if you do get a case to hear. One group of people sat around for nearly the whole two weeks before they had anything to do, and you don't see that on the telly.
So, my case then. Indecent assault/touching of a sexual nature (depending on which charge and which Sexual Offences Act) with no actual evidence, just one side's word against the other. And it's not what you believe happened, it's what the prosecution can prove happened, so we had to let him off. Not very satisfactory at all really.
There were some amusing bits though - the prosecution lawyer posturing with his glasses, looking directly at the jury before making a 'killer' point, the way he tied some poor woman up in knots before accusing her of having had lunch with someone she shouldn't (she changed her story over the lunchbreak), the practical demonstrations in the jury room to decide what was "sexual touching" and what wasn't (one woman in particular was very "hands on" with that bit), the trying to keep a straight face walking into the court when we'd been in hysterics in the waiting corridor just moments before, and a rather amusing in-joke about a parrot which I won't bore you with. Trying not to start laughing in court when one of the witnesses mentioned the parrot in passing was tricky though.
So I've done the sex stuff, there's no murders scheduled for this week, so what's it going to be today? Something less emotionally draining would be nice where you don't need to get into the heads of the parties concerned to determine their motivation. Perhaps drugs or immigration would be easier.
